Forza Horizon 6 Breaks Steam Records with 172K Players on Day One
Forza Horizon 6 launched on Xbox and PC with a franchise-record 172,093 concurrent Steam players — more than double Forza Horizon 5's all-time peak.

Forza Horizon 6 is here, and the numbers are already wild. On its first day, the game hit 172,093 concurrent players on Steam — more than double the previous Forza Horizon 5 peak. That's a franchise record, and it's not even close.
What's New in Forza Horizon 6
This time around, the Horizon Festival lands in Japan, with Tokyo City as the centerpiece. Playground Games says the Tokyo City area alone is five times larger than any previous Horizon city. The full map is reportedly the biggest in franchise history.
The car roster is equally massive, featuring over 550 real-world vehicles at launch. Whether you're into vintage JDM legends, modern supercars, or off-road trucks, there's something here for every kind of driver.
Game Pass and Availability
The game is available now on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it's included in Game Pass on day one — so if you're a subscriber, there's no reason not to download it right now.
Premium Edition players got early access starting May 18, while the standard release dropped on May 19. The Steam launch coincided with the console release, which is likely why the concurrent numbers surged so fast.
What the Community Is Saying
Early reactions online are enthusiastic. Players are praising the density of the Tokyo city streets, the handling improvements for simulation-style driving, and the visual fidelity on PC at high settings.
The series has always excelled at accessibility — easy to pick up and hard to put down — and Forza Horizon 6 seems to deliver more of that in a fresh, vibrant setting.
Why This Matters
Racing games don't usually pull numbers like this on Steam. The fact that Forza Horizon 6 doubled its predecessor's concurrent peak on day one signals serious momentum for the franchise on PC. It's also a win for the Game Pass strategy — when a game is this accessible, more people try it, and word spreads fast.
If you're a Game Pass subscriber and haven't downloaded it yet, today's a great day to start.
