Forza Horizon 6 Review Scores Are In — Best in the Series at 92/100

Forza Horizon 6 is out today, and the critics have spoken: this is the best racing game the series has ever produced. With a 92/100 on Metacritic (based on 65 reviews) and a 100% recommendation rate on OpenCritic across 103 professional critics, FH6 has taken the crown as the highest-rated game of 2026 — and it is not close.

What Critics Are Saying

The praise is near-unanimous. Reviewers are calling it "one of the greatest racing games of this generation," with particular admiration for the Japan setting and the sheer density of the map. The Tokyo metropolitan area at the heart of the game is reportedly five times larger in urban space compared to previous Horizon entries, giving players a playground that feels genuinely massive.

The OpenCritic average sits at 91/100, and that 100% recommendation rate tells you everything — even the lower scores (some reviewers landed around 70/100) still came with a recommendation. There is no consensus that FH6 is anything less than excellent.

Japan Was the Right Call

The series has never visited Japan before, and based on launch-day impressions, it was the right call at the right time. The setting brings with it Touge mountain races, JDM car culture, dynamic weather with full seasonal changes, and a verticality that previous Horizon maps never had.

Over 550 licensed cars are available at launch, each with deep customization options. One detail reviewers keep mentioning: 540-degree steering wheel rotation, which makes cockpit driving feel more authentic than any previous entry. Little touches like that add up.

Game Pass Day One

FH6 is available today on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it hits Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one — so if you are a subscriber, there is genuinely no reason not to try it right now. A PS5 version is confirmed for later in 2026, following in the footsteps of Forza Horizon 5, which eventually made its way to PlayStation as well.

Is It Worth It?

If you have any interest in racing games at all, the answer from 103 critics is: yes. FH6 takes what worked in Horizon 5, rebuilds it around a stunning Japanese map, sharpens the progression system, and delivers one of the cleanest launches the franchise has had. For Game Pass subscribers it is a no-brainer. For everyone else, a 92 Metacritic score is a pretty compelling argument.

The game is out now. The reviews are in. And Forza Horizon 6 is, officially, the best in the series.
