Thick As Thieves Is Out Today and It's Only $4.99
Warren Spector and Paul Neurath reunite for a $4.99 Victorian stealth game with 16 missions and co-op — launching today on Steam.

Two of gaming’s most celebrated designers are back, and somehow they’re charging less than a sandwich for it. Thick As Thieves launched today on PC via Steam, the brainchild of Warren Spector (Deus Ex, System Shock) and Paul Neurath (the original Thief series). At just $4.99, it might be the most underpriced game from legendary talent we’ve ever seen.
What Is Thick As Thieves?
Thick As Thieves is a stealth game set in a fictional alternate-history version of 1910s Scotland. You play as a thief navigating dense, atmospheric city environments using the classic immersive sim toolkit: shadows, distractions, improvised routes, and careful observation of guard patterns.
What makes it stand out is the co-op angle. The game supports two-player online co-op, letting you and a buddy pull off heists together — or inevitably get each other caught trying to be clever at the wrong moment. Either way, it’s the kind of experience fans of the genre have been hungry for.
16 Missions at Launch
Don’t let the budget price fool you into thinking this is a short tech demo. Thick As Thieves ships with:
- 16 missions spread across two replayable maps
- At least 4 hours of campaign content
- Full solo and two-player co-op support
- Planned expansions to extend the experience post-launch
The maps are built for replayability — in the tradition of immersive sims, there are multiple solutions to every scenario. Whether you ghost an entire level or create chaos and bolt out a window, the game gives you the tools to improvise.
The Pedigree Behind It
This isn’t a nostalgia cash-grab. Spector and Neurath’s studio OtherSide Entertainment has been developing the game with genuine ambition. Spector in particular has been vocal about wanting Thick As Thieves to embody the “sim” part of immersive sim — a world that reacts, guards with memory, and consequences that cascade from your choices.
That lineage matters. The original Thief games essentially invented modern stealth mechanics. Deus Ex set the template for systemic first-person design. If even a fraction of that DNA made it into Thick As Thieves, this is worth far more than five bucks.
Console Versions Are Coming
The Steam launch is just the beginning. OtherSide has confirmed that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are in development, with no release window given yet. For now, PC players get first crack.
If you’ve been waiting for a proper stealth game that isn’t a sequel or a live-service spin-off, today’s a good day to spend five dollars. Thick As Thieves is on Steam right now.
