WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5 Drops Monday — Here's What's Coming

If you've been running the same Midnight endgame loop since launch, Monday is about to shake things up. Blizzard drops Patch 12.0.5 on April 21, and it's a genuinely meaty update — not just bug fixes and number tweaks, but actual new things to do.

Void Assaults: The New Open-World Event

The headliner is Void Assaults, a new open-world event rolling out across Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. These are dynamic, time-limited encounters where waves of void-corrupted enemies pour through rift openings, and players have to coordinate on the fly to push them back.

It's the kind of content WoW does best when it's firing on all cylinders — chaotic, rewarding, and way more fun with a group than solo. Void Assaults tie into the Midnight expansion's central storyline, so expect some lore payoff alongside the loot.

Decor Duels: Hide-and-Seek PvP in Silvermoon

This one came out of nowhere and it looks wild. Decor Duels is a new PvP activity set entirely in Silvermoon City where one team hides disguised as furniture and decorations, while the other team hunts them down. Yes, seriously.

It's a completely different vibe from traditional WoW PvP, and honestly it sounds like the kind of chaotic side content that becomes a cult favorite. Blizzard has been leaning into creative, low-stakes activities alongside the hardcore progression, and Decor Duels fits that perfectly.

Voidforge Crafting System

Patch 12.0.5 also introduces Voidforge, a new crafting system tied to the void-themed materials you'll be collecting from Void Assaults. You can use Voidforge to upgrade and customize gear in ways the base crafting system doesn't allow — early details suggest it offers meaningful item-level jumps and cosmetic modifications.

This is important for players who prefer crafting their way to progression rather than grinding dungeons or raids. More meaningful crafting paths have been a consistent community ask since Midnight launched, so this is a welcome addition.

Abyss Anglers Fishing Event

On the lighter side, the Abyss Anglers event takes fishing underwater for the first time. You'll be diving into the deep zones introduced in Midnight's aquatic regions to reel in rare void-touched fish, which exchange for cosmetics and crafting materials.

Fishing events in WoW have always had a surprisingly dedicated fanbase, and this one sounds like a genuine highlight for players who enjoy the slower, chill side of the game.

When to Log In

Patch 12.0.5 goes live Monday, April 21. Blizzard typically drops patches during the weekly reset window in the morning, so expect everything to be available by mid-morning if you're playing on NA servers.

If you've been on the fence about jumping back into Midnight, this is a pretty solid patch to return on. A lot of different playstyles are getting something new — and Void Assaults in particular look like they could be the most fun the outdoor zones have offered since launch.
