Summer Game Fest 2026: Full Schedule and What to Expect

Gaming's biggest showcase season is almost here. Summer Game Fest 2026 kicks off on June 5 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and this year's lineup is stacked — with confirmed appearances from Xbox, PlayStation, and dozens of developers, plus serious buzz around possible GTA 6 Trailer 3 and Marvel's Wolverine reveals.

Here is everything you need to know before the weekend hits.

The Full Showcase Schedule

Summer Game Fest 2026 runs from June 5–8, with events spread across all four days. Here is the confirmed lineup:

  • June 5 — Access-Ability Summer Showcase — 11 AM ET
  • June 5 — Opening Night Live — 5 PM ET (hosted by Geoff Keighley and GameSpot's Lucy James)
  • June 5 — Day of the Devs — immediately after Opening Night Live
  • June 6 — Wholesome Direct — 12 PM ET
  • June 6 — Future Games Show — 3 PM ET
  • June 7 — Xbox Games Showcase — 1 PM ET (followed by Gears of War: E-Day Direct)
  • June 7 — PC Games Show — Time TBD
  • June 8 — The Game Business — Time TBD

PlayStation is not in the SGF lineup — their State of Play already happened on June 2, just three days before the festival opens.

The Xbox Showcase: A New Era

The Xbox Games Showcase on June 7 is the most anticipated event of the weekend — and this year it carries extra weight. Phil Spencer stepped down as Xbox CEO in February 2026, handing the reins to Asha Sharma. This will be her first major public appearance leading Xbox, and expectations are high for her to lay out where the platform is headed next.

The one confirmed game is Gears of War: E-Day, which gets its own dedicated deep-dive Direct immediately after the Xbox show ends. Microsoft has kept everything else under wraps, which either means they have big surprises locked and loaded, or the show will be leaner than fans hope. Given the circumstances, smart money is on surprises.

The Most Hyped Games of the Weekend

Based on developer announcements and industry tracking, here are the games most expected to appear across the four days:

  • GTA 6 Trailer 3 — Officially unconfirmed, but Take-Two's summer marketing window overlaps directly with SGF
  • Marvel's Wolverine — Insomniac's long-awaited PS5 exclusive; a playable demo or gameplay reveal is overdue
  • The Witcher 4 — CD Projekt Red is expected to deliver a proper gameplay showcase
  • Fable — Xbox's long-in-development RPG reboot has been suspiciously quiet
  • Phantom Blade Zero — The action game from S-GAME has generated massive hype since its first showing
  • Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet — Announced at The Game Awards 2025, a full showing is overdue
  • Fire Emblem — Nintendo typically has something around this time of year

What About Nintendo?

Nintendo traditionally runs their own Direct separate from Summer Game Fest, and 2026 is no different. While Nintendo does not have a confirmed slot in the official SGF schedule, a June Nintendo Direct is highly likely based on past patterns. Switch 2 is out in the wild, so expect software updates, new game reveals, and possibly a closer look at titles like the new Fire Emblem and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

How to Watch Everything

All SGF events are free to stream online. The Opening Night Live on June 5 broadcasts on YouTube, Twitch, and Steam. Individual partner showcases stream on their own channels — Xbox on Xbox's YouTube, and so on. If you want one place for everything, the Summer Game Fest YouTube channel aggregates or links to partner streams throughout the weekend.

All times are Eastern. Check the Summer Game Fest website for any last-minute schedule changes.

The Bottom Line

Summer Game Fest 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest in years. A new Xbox era, Gears of War back in the spotlight, wall-to-wall game reveals across four days — this is exactly the kind of showcase season that reminds you why gaming is the best hobby on the planet.
