Nintendo's 2026 Plans Leaked: Zelda Remake, New Star Fox, Metroid

Nintendo's 2026 gaming lineup has reportedly been laid bare — and if the leaks hold up, this might be the most exciting year in Switch 2's short life. A massive information dump from credible insider NateTheHate has exposed what sounds like a full slate of first-party releases, and Nintendo is reportedly furious about every bit of it.

A New Star Fox Game — and It Could Be Announced Any Day Now

The most immediately exciting piece of this leak is a brand-new Star Fox game for Switch 2, reportedly targeting a Summer 2026 release window. According to NateTheHate, the game draws heavily from the classic design of the original Star Fox titles — tight, rail-shooter structure — but built with modern visuals and gameplay.

The killer detail: it includes an online multiplayer mode that leakers are describing as "really fun." Star Fox hasn't had a real multiplayer moment since Star Fox 64's legendary four-player split-screen. The prospect of dogfighting online against other players has long-time fans very excited.

The timing on the announcement is wild — NateTheHate claims Nintendo plans to reveal the game through its Nintendo Today app, potentially as soon as this week. If you're not following Nintendo's app and social channels, now's the time.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time — Full Remake, Not Just a Port

This one is the biggest drop. The leak claims Nintendo is working on a full ground-up remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, targeting a holiday 2026 release. Not an HD remaster. Not an upscaled N64 ROM. A complete reimagining of the 1998 classic, built from scratch for modern hardware.

Ocarina of Time is consistently ranked among the greatest games ever made. A proper remake — in the style of the beloved Link's Awakening remake — would be one of Nintendo's biggest releases in years. If this is real, holiday 2026 is shaping up to be a battle between GTA 6 and a new Zelda. Gamers' wallets don't stand a chance.

Super Metroid Remake Also in the Mix

As if that wasn't enough, the same leak points to a Super Metroid remake also in development for Switch 2. Nintendo has been steadily rebuilding Metroid as a franchise — Metroid Dread earned Game of the Year nominations in 2021, and Metroid Prime Remastered sold incredibly well — so a Super Metroid remake feels like the natural next step.

Details are light on this one, but given Nintendo's track record with recent remakes, the expectation is a faithful-but-modernized take on the SNES classic that defined the Metroidvania genre.

Nintendo Is Reportedly Furious

Former Nintendo of America PR manager Kit Ellis described the company as "absolutely furious" about the scale of the leak, which allegedly exposed "almost the entire future product line." That reaction, more than anything, lends credibility to what's been shared. Companies don't get that angry about made-up information.

NateTheHate is one of the most reliable leakers in the Nintendo space — he has a long track record of accurate information and is known for being careful about what he shares until he has multiple sources confirming the same details. When he posts something, it tends to be real.

A Nintendo Direct Is Probably Coming Soon

Multiple sources are also pointing to a Nintendo Direct in April, where some of these titles could get official reveals. With Star Fox supposedly being announced through the Nintendo Today app any day now, the Direct might serve as the bigger stage for Zelda and Metroid.

Keep your eyes on Nintendo's channels. This month could be one of the most historic in Nintendo's history.
