League of Legends Season 2 Pandemonium: Everything Dropping April 29
Riot's biggest LoL update of the year hits April 29 — Deathfire Touch returns, Arena gets reworked, WASD hits ranked, and Vayne gets a Legendary skin.

Riot Games is bringing one of its biggest updates of the year to League of Legends with Season 2 Act 1: Pandemonium, dropping on April 29, 2026. If you've been sleeping on LoL updates, this is the one to wake up for — it touches almost every corner of the game.
A Darker Season Begins
Pandemonium leans hard into a demon-fueled narrative, giving Season 2 a darker and more intense vibe than what Riot has served up recently. The lore framing sets the tone for the whole act, and if Riot's past seasonal storytelling is anything to go by, expect in-client events and cinematics to follow throughout the next few weeks.
It's a deliberate shift in mood, and the community seems into it. Demon and chaos-themed content has always been some of League's most popular aesthetic territory — think Jhin, Thresh, and the Soul Fighter event from a couple years back.
Deathfire Touch and Stormraider's Surge Are Back
This is the headline for a lot of players: Riot is bringing back Deathfire Touch and Stormraider's Surge, two keystones that were retired years ago. Deathfire Touch was a burst mage and assassin favorite that applied a damage-over-time effect on ability hits, and its return is already sending champions like Lissandra and Syndra mains into excitement mode.
Stormraider's Surge, meanwhile, gave skirmishers and divers a burst of movement speed after dealing significant damage — perfect for gap-closing or escaping after an all-in. Bringing both back is a bold call from Riot, and it's going to shake up the meta in a big way.
Expect tier lists to get scrambled in the first two weeks as players figure out which champions benefit most from the returning keystones.
Arena Mode Gets a Full Rework
Arena has been one of LoL's most popular rotating modes since its debut, and Riot is giving it a structural overhaul with Pandemonium. The full details haven't dropped yet, but Riot has teased changes to how rounds play out and new mechanics designed to keep the experience fresh for players who've been running the same format for a while.
Given how much players loved Arena when it launched, a well-executed rework could make this the go-to mode for players who want something competitive but not as high-stakes as ranked Summoner's Rift.
WASD Movement Finally Hits Ranked
Riot added WASD movement controls in a previous patch, but kept them restricted to non-ranked modes while collecting data on how the feature affected gameplay. With Pandemonium, WASD is coming to ranked — and that's a much bigger deal than it might sound.
It means players who've been grinding their WASD mechanics in normals can finally bring that playstyle into competitive matches. It also signals that Riot is confident enough in the feature's balance to let it loose in ranked without it creating unfair advantages. Whether it will actually change how top players approach the game remains to be seen, but it's one of the more interesting experiments in LoL's history.
Anti-Griefing Gets a Real Upgrade
Riot is shipping new anti-griefing measures with the Pandemonium update. Specifics are still being detailed in the lead-up to launch, but the focus is on smarter detection systems and faster action against players who intentionally feed, AFK, or otherwise sabotage their teammates.
This has been one of the loudest community complaints for literally years. Any meaningful progress on the griefing front is going to go over well, even if cynics will wait to see the results before celebrating.
New Skins: Vayne Gets Her Legendary
Three Pandemonium skins are arriving at launch:
- Pandemonium Vayne — Legendary tier
- Pandemonium Annie
- Pandemonium Kindred
Vayne getting a Legendary is massive news for her player base, which has been waiting a long time for a skin at that tier. Legendary skins come with custom voice-over, upgraded visual effects, and unique animations — so expect this one to be a must-buy for Vayne mains who have been patient enough to hold out.
Annie and Kindred round out the lineup nicely. Both fit the demon-chaos aesthetic of the Pandemonium theme, and Kindred in particular seems like a natural fit given their existing lore around death and fate.
When Does It Drop?
Season 2 Act 1: Pandemonium goes live on April 29, 2026. Patches deploy in waves by region — NA typically gets the update in the early morning hours Eastern time. Riot is expected to publish the full patch notes in the days before launch.
Whether you're a ranked climber who's been waiting for the meta to shift, an Arena regular, or someone who just wants to cop the Vayne Legendary — Pandemonium has something for you. Three days away.
