Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Is Now Free on PS Plus Extra
Sony drops Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered into PS Plus Extra today alongside The Crew Motorfest and Football Manager 26 Console — here is what you need to know.
If you have a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription, today is a great day to check your library. Sony has officially added Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered to the PS Plus Extra game catalog, and it is available to download right now.
What You Are Getting
This is not just a port. The remastered version of Guerrilla Games' open-world classic got a significant visual overhaul — improved character models, reworked lighting, enhanced facial animations, and a bumped frame rate on PS5. If you missed it the first time around, or played it back on PS4 and want to see it running the way it was always meant to, now you have zero excuses.
The game follows Aloy, a hunter navigating a world reclaimed by nature and overrun by mechanical creatures called machines. The story holds up incredibly well, and the open world still has some of the best environmental design in gaming. The sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, is also available on PS Plus if you want to keep the momentum going after you finish.
The Rest of the April Lineup
HZD Remastered is not rolling in alone. Sony is also adding two more titles to the catalog this month:
- The Crew Motorfest — Ubisoft's open-world racing game set on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. It has a solid variety of events, a great soundtrack, and enough content to keep you busy for a while. Not a perfect game, but if you like racing games, it is worth a look for free.
- Football Manager 26 Console — The latest entry in the Football Manager series hits the catalog right on launch month. If you have been waiting to try it without paying full price, here is your shot.
Is It Worth Downloading?
Honestly, yes — especially if you are newer to PlayStation. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is one of those games that defines what PS5 can do visually while still telling a gripping, well-paced story. It is not the longest game in the world, but you will get a solid 20-30 hours out of the main story and side content.
The Crew Motorfest is a nice bonus if you want something lighter. Plug in, race around Hawaii, and do not think too hard. Football Manager 26 Console is going to be a niche pick, but fans of the series know exactly what they are getting.
How to Get It
Head to the PlayStation Store on your PS5 or PS4, search for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and add it to your library. You need at least a PS Plus Extra tier subscription — the Essential tier does not include the Game Catalog. The game will stay in your library for as long as your subscription is active.
If you have been on the fence about upgrading your PS Plus tier, this lineup is a pretty solid argument for making the jump. Three genuinely good games landing in the same month is not something Sony does every time.
