Esports World Cup 2026 Is Going to Paris — And It's Massive
The Esports World Cup 2026 moves to Paris with a $75M+ prize pool, 24 games, and 2,000+ players competing from July 6 to August 23.

The Esports World Cup is getting a serious glow-up in 2026. For the first time since the event launched, it's leaving Riyadh and heading to Paris, France — and the scale of what's being planned is genuinely staggering.
Running from July 6 through August 23, the 2026 EWC will be the biggest esports event in history by almost every metric.
The Numbers Are Wild
Let's just run through what's been announced, because the scope here is hard to overstate:
- $75 million+ total prize pool across all titles
- 24 games featured across the tournament
- 2,000+ players competing
- 200+ clubs from over 100 countries
- Nearly 7 weeks of non-stop competition
That prize pool alone dwarfs most traditional sporting events. For context, Wimbledon's total prize money in 2025 was around £50 million. The EWC is competing in that territory now — and esports hasn't even hit its ceiling yet.
Why Paris?
Moving the EWC out of Saudi Arabia is a significant statement. Riyadh served as the event's home base through its early years, backed by the Saudi government's Vision 2030 initiative to invest in gaming and entertainment. The expansion to Paris signals that the event is ready to stand on its own as a global institution.
Paris also brings enormous infrastructure. The city hosted the 2024 Olympics and has world-class venues, international transport links, and massive media presence. For esports trying to cement itself as a legitimate global sport, Paris is a statement venue.
What Games Are Included?
The full game list hasn't been locked down publicly yet, but based on previous EWC editions you can expect the heavyweights: League of Legends, CS2, Valorant, Dota 2, EA FC, Rocket League, Call of Duty, and more. With 24 titles total, there's plenty of room for some interesting additions to the lineup.
Mark Your Calendar
If you're in Europe — or willing to travel — this is basically the Olympics of gaming happening on your doorstep. Even if you're watching from home, seven weeks of top-tier competitive play across 24 titles is going to be appointment viewing.
The Esports World Cup isn't just growing — it's becoming the definitive championship of competitive gaming. July 6 can't come soon enough.
